Welcome to 7th grade science! This is my first year at NGS; however, I taught here about 8 years ago. I am thrilled to be back! This will be my 17th year teaching middle school science in 7th or 8th grade. I have two grown boys, one grandson, and two beagles! I love to hike, watch movies and spend time with my family. I look forward to a great year and being a WARRIOR again!
We will be taking our first benchmark, these benchmarks are extremely important for me to know what the students have mastered and what we still need to work on; please encourage your child to try their best! I have provided each student with a study guide covering everything we have learned so far this year, they are glued into their composition book. Please have your child review these pages this week to ensure they have a grasp of the material.
We will start having spiral reviews over the physical science standards every couple weeks. I quiz one week and the second week will be a remediation folder assignment If they make below a 70, completion of this assignment is mandatory and is the only way to bring up the grade. I will notify parents through Dojo if your child will have this assignment. I do this to help retain information and help those that didn't get it the first time, still have the opportunity to learn the content.
We are wrapping up our physical science unit. I am extremely proud of the progress that we are making. I will not leave these standards, but continue pushing the students towards mastery. We will take our first benchmark, please encourage your child to do their best! We will begin our unit over cells next week. Please contact me with questions or concerns.
