Beginning on Friday, February 1, 2013, Newport Grammar School began a program called Universal Free Breakfast at School to provide a nutritious morning meal at no cost to all students.

Breakfast is served Monday to Friday beginning at 7:30am and ends promptly at 8:00am. The breakfast meal consists of a daily serving of milk, juice, and cold cereal. Other breakfast items being served are whole grain muffins, pancakes, waffles, and French toast sticks. On hot food days, entrées such as egg biscuits, chicken biscuits, or scrambled eggs with toast are served.

The direct impact of a good breakfast on academic performance has been well documented, and we are happy to be working with you to support your child's maximum learning potential. Research shows that students who do not eat a nourishing breakfast are not able to concentrate well, become irritable more quickly, and show hunger-related symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches. When your child eats breakfast at school, know that your child is going to start the day ready to learn without any hunger-related disruptions.
